We’re excited to announce our new partnership with Logistics UK – in an effort to improve health and wellbeing in the freight industry.
The move is aimed at making it easier for businesses and individuals to access our discounted D4 driver medicals, driver screening, forklift medicals, health checks, occupational health assessments and COVID PCR testing.
It follows on from a similar and ongoing partnership between us and the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and comes at a critical time in the UK freight industry.
Tom Blain, Commercial Manager of D4Drivers, explains there are two aspects of our new service – an offer for business members called ‘Logistics UK Health & Wellbeing’ and an offer for individual driver members called ‘Logistics UK Driver Medical’.
Mr Blain has said: “These are particularly difficult times for everyone working in the freight industry and this is leading to increasing problems with health and wellbeing. The new service we are offering in partnership with Logistics UK will hopefully raise awareness of the issues and offer easier to access solutions to keep our lorry drivers fit and healthy, which in turn will keep our logistics industry moving.
“Logistics UK is the only business group in the UK to represent all of the logistical industries, boasting members from the rail, road, air and sea transport sectors, while D4Drivers already operates throughout the UK – which makes this a perfect partnership.
“People will already be aware of our partnership with the RHA and this is similar in that it will have the goal of improving health and wellbeing in the freight transport industry through a range of services covering six specific areas.
Driver Offer
“Individual driver members will have access to discounted D4 driver medicals and COVID PCR testing. Professional drivers require a D4 medical examination when applying for their HGV licence, then again at 45 years of age and every five years thereafter, then annually from 65.
“These medicals must be carried out by a GP but more and more drivers are turning to private providers like D4Drivers to prevent long waits as NHS practices are under increasing strain – and many have stopped doing the D4 medicals.
“The COVID PCR test may be required for travelling abroad and we provide next-day delivery on test kits and fast turnaround times for results through our sister company Summerfield Healthcare.”
Business members will also benefit from the partnership in a number of areas.
Business Offer
“Our DVLA D4 driver medicals are easy to arrange and can be carried out at any of our 85 centres across the country at times to suit the driver, their employer and the business.
“Other services they will have access to are regular driver screenings, which help to identify health conditions earlier and allow for early intervention and treatments where necessary, forklift medicals and regular staff health checks.
“We will also be able to provide occupational health assessments through our sister company My Occ Health – an important service which is helping businesses to ensure good health and wellbeing in the workplace.”
