D4Drivers Expands Services with New Clinic at NCSEM-EM, Supporting Driver Health & Research
D4Drivers, the UK’s largest provider of driver medicals, is excited to announce the launch of a new clinic at the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine East Midlands (NCSEM-EM).
Our GMC registered doctors will conduct medical assessments required for obtaining and renewing Group 2 licences, ensuring that drivers meet DVLA health standards. These assessments include eyesight and blood pressure checks, as well as medication reviews, and are mandatory at the start of a driver’s career, at age 45, and at every renewal thereafter.
Beyond providing driver medicals, D4Drivers’ CEO Dr Grant Charlesworth-Jones is proud to collaborate with NCSEM-EM on ground-breaking research into driver health. By working alongside academic experts, we aim to address health inequalities in HGV drivers, a workforce that often faces barriers to healthcare access. Through this partnership, researchers will have access to invaluable data, enabling them to conduct what could become the largest global study on driver health.
Given the unique health risks professional drivers face—including higher obesity rates, increased cardiometabolic risk, and reduced life expectancy—this research will be vital in shaping future policies and support services to enhance driver well-being and road safety.
Dr Grant Charlesworth-Jones, Founder of D4Drivers, said: “By joining the academic brilliance of the NCSEM as well as their world-leading facilities to work with us to best understand the health needs of vocational drivers we shall be making a huge impact on the future of driver health in the UK.“
D4Drivers remains committed to supporting the industry by delivering fast, affordable, and professional driver medicals nationwide—now with the added benefit of contributing to pioneering research that could transform driver health for years to come.
