Lorry drivers spend long hours on the road, which can take a toll on their health. Here are some essential health tips to help them stay fit, focused, and safe! 🚛💨

🥗 1. Eat Smart on the Road
- ✅ Choose high-protein snacks like nuts, yogurt, or protein bars.
- ✅ Swap fast food for healthier options like wraps, salads, and grilled meats.
- ✅ Remain hydrated—aim for 2L of water daily (but plan toilet breaks!).
🚫 Avoid too much caffeine, processed foods, and sugary snacks.
🏃2. Keep Moving & Stretching
- ✅ Take 5-minute breaks every couple of hours to stretch.
- ✅ Try shoulder rolls, back stretches, and leg exercises at rest stops.
- ✅ Do quick workouts like walking, squats, or resistance band exercises.
🚫 Sitting for long hours increases the risk of blood clots & back pain—move when you can!
😴 3. Get Proper Sleep
- ✅ Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep before long drives.
- ✅ Use blackout curtains, a sleep mask, or earplugs in your cab.
- ✅ Stick to a routine—consistent sleep schedules improve focus.
🚫 Avoid energy drinks late in the day—they disrupt sleep.
💓 4. Manage Stress & Mental Health
- ✅ Listen to music, audiobooks, or podcasts to stay entertained.
- ✅ Take deep breaths when feeling stressed or stuck in traffic.
- ✅ Stay connected—call friends/family during breaks.
🚫 Don’t ignore signs of burnout or depression—talk to someone if needed. We’re partnered with #ANDYSMANCLUB a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free to attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online.
🩺 5. Stay on Top of Health Checks
- ✅ Monitor blood pressure & cholesterol regularly.
- ✅ Get your D4 medical exam on time to keep your licence valid.
- ✅ If you have diabetes, sleep apnoea, or other conditions, manage them properly.
🚫 Don’t delay seeing a doctor—your health matters!
