All student paramedics now require a D4 medical examination to obtain your provisional C1 licence category to drive ambulances.
In line with EU directive if you passed your driving test after 1996 you no longer have C1 category on your licence automatically and must undergo a medical to gain the provisional entitlement.
An increasing number of universities require students to hold a provisional C1 licence prior to enrolling on paramedic courses so don’t delay in booking your D4 medical with D4Drivers and take the first step towards getting behind the wheel of an ambulance.
We are trusted by over 5000 drivers a month to deliver medicals at 75 locations nationwide for individuals and businesses.
D4Drivers has an excellent relationship with the College Of Paramedics and we offer a discount on D4 medicals for its members, as part of our appreciation for the NHS and emergency workers.
Discount is available for College Of Paramedics members who need a medical to apply for your provisional C1 licence or to renew an existing entitlement.
Our Doctor will complete your full D4 medical for only £55. Your medical consists of an eyesight test using a Snellen chart, blood pressure checks to ensure your BP meets DVLA criteria and a questionnaire regarding your medical history.

Used D4Drivers to obtain my medical in order to gain a provisional licence as I needed the C1 category to drive an ambulance. Really easy and straightforward. Would recommend.LC, Trustpilot
We are experiencing significantly higher call volumes than usual due to the number of drivers who were granted a 12 month licence by DVLA during COVID-19 now reaching the end of this licensing period and needing a medical.
Our team are doing all we can to accommodate these additional bookings but we kindly ask that you book online where possible using our online booking portal.
All clinics are going ahead with additional safety precautions in place. You can feel safe in the knowledge that when you attend your appointment with D4Drivers extra precautions have been taken to ensure you are in a COVID safe environment, including regular cleaning of all surfaces and equipment and strict PPE and social distancing measures.
