When obtaining your licence from the Motor Sport Association (Motorsport UK) you may need to be examined by a Doctor confirming you are fit to compete.

So, who needs a full medical examination in order to race? International race competitors must undergo a medical examination by a Doctor when gaining a licence, additionally a resting electrocardiogram (ECG) is needed for drivers who apply for an international licence under the age of 45. We can carry out the resting ECG medical combined with the standard medical at our Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton clinics, and on site if you need a number of medicals completing. If you are applying for or renewing a National Race, Truck or Long Circuit Kart Licence and you are 60 or over or have previously declared medical conditions, you may require a medical report completing by a Doctor. The medical will include an eye test, urine analysis for diabetes, blood pressure test and questions surrounding your medical history. We can provide this medical at any of our 85 clinic locations nationwide.
We will help complete the medical self-declaration that is required to be answered by all competitors each year they apply for a competition licence. This contains questions relating to allergies, diabetes, neurological disorders, head injuries, heart problems, among many others, in order to ascertain your suitability for a licence to compete in motorsport.
Your medical examination is valid for 12 months and can be used to renew your licence, provided that your application is submitted and processed before the 12-month validity period has expired.
While you can get your medical done through your own GP, this can often end up costing you considerably more, especially if the level of licence you are seeking requires an ECG. We make the whole process of getting a motorsport medical easy for you with a cost-effective solution. Unlike some other medical assessment providers, our medicals also include the eye test. Please note though if your eyesight is borderline or deemed a ‘fail’ we will refer you to your optician for this section to be completed.
We can get you booked in for your medical appointment so you don’t have to wait several weeks, like you might have to if you were to go to your own GP and require an ECG as part of your medical assessment.
