The medical is similar to that of a D4 medical. Consisting of a vision assessment using a Snellen chart, a check on resting blood pressure, and a questionnaire regarding your medical history. Any further requirements for the medical are dictated by the local authority in which you apply to.

If the local authority where you are applying requires full medical history, then our doctors need longer to go through your records. A 30 minute appointment would be required and as a result, the price increases.

The D4 medical examination is conducted by a doctor, and the results are submitted to the DVLA who determine if the driver is medically fit to drive. For taxi medicals, the decision on the driver's fitness to drive is made directly by the doctor, based on the medical standards established by the local authority responsible for licensing taxi drivers.

The validity of the form is dependent on the local authority you are applying for your licence through. For example, in Wolverhampton the licence is valid for 3 years.
