Perpetuum Motorsport Team eager to get back on the race track

After a year of social distancing, event cancellations and mask-wearing, the Perpetuum Motorsport Team is eager to get back on the race track.

The team here at D4Drivers is pleased to sponsor the drivers for 2021 – a year with more racing we hope!

F1000 series

Lee Morgan, from Telford, and Andy Wheals, both Perpetuum Team drivers, are based in Shropshire – home to our head offices – and race in the F1000 series. We look after their medicals so they can concentrate on the racing.

We are able to complete motorsport medicals at times to suit drivers, including evenings and weekends, at more than 80 locations across the UK.

The 2020 racing season was definitely slow off the starting line with drivers being faced with a season filled with delayed or cancelled races due to the pandemic, the disappearance of spectators and family support, and the introduction of masks to pit stops.

As the season progressed it soon became clear that it would be a year like no other – you can watch again here

Challenges of the pandemic

The Perpetuum duo said one of the main challenges of continuing in a pandemic was the introduction of face masks to the track.

According to Lee the moment that face masks were introduced meant that hearing and understanding your mechanic in the pit lane became increasingly difficult.

He said: “With all the noise of the race cars going past and your helmet on the face mask definitely made it harder to communicate as you couldn’t see their mouths and their voices were muffled slightly by the mask.

“This year I’m really looking forward to the start of the season, I ended 2020 on a high with a win at the final race and hopefully, we can hit the ground running this year and get some good points on the board.

D4drivers 2021 sponsor

“We both want to thank D4Drivers for sponsoring us for another year. We understand times are tough – more so than ever before so the support of D4Drivers is overwhelming.”

The talented petrol-heads said they had high hopes for the forthcoming season – with a full schedule starting off at Silverstone on April 24th. The Silverstone track gave great entertainment for F1 fans when the season kicked off with Hamilton just taking the win.

Lee and Andy both hope they will be enjoying podium finishes…..watch this space!
