What do you need for your Motorsport Medical?

To apply for a UK Motorsport licence, you must undergo a manadatory medical to ensure that you’re fit enough to compete. Alongside this, when you apply for a National or International licence will also determine whether you need a Resting ECG or Stress ECG. The requirements for this are as follows:

A vision test is required if no medical report or vision test has been supplied previously.

National Licence (45 to 59 years)
A vision test is required if no medical report or vision test supplied within the last 36 months.

National Licence (60 years and above)
A medical report, vision test and Resting ECG is required. This is required again at the following age intervals: 60, 65, 70, 72 and 74, then annually from 75.

International Licence

International Licence (49 years and under)
A medical report, vision test and Resting ECG is required. The medical and vision is required every 12 months, Resting ECG every 24 months.

International Licence (50 to 74 years)
A medical report, vision test and Stress ECG is required. The medical and vision is required every 12 months, Stress ECG every 24 months.

International Licence (50 to 74 years)

New licence requirements for the 2024 race season

An important update for the 2024 race season!

Motorsport UK have introduced new licence requirements when making your application or renewal. You still have the option of either applying for a National or International licence. However, the licence type you apply for will determine whether you will require a Resting ECG or a Stress ECG.

If your appoinment requires you to have a Resting ECG, then this will take no longer than 15 minutes to complete.

If a Stress ECG is required for your appointment, this this will take at least 30 minutes to complete.

With D4Drivers, you can book both the medical and the ECG you require, both taking place at the same clinic location as one complete service.

If you do have any queries regarding the medical requirements for either a National or International licence, please see Motorsport UK’s official section on the requirements below
